About

Joshua Cwintal is a sound and visual artist based in Toronto. His work explores the tension between memory, technology, and decay, treating digital systems as emotional and spiritual spaces. Through his electronic project Data Grief, his ambient solo work under Jack Quinn, and his experimental duo Tired Wires, Joshua constructs textured sonic worlds from mangled samples, forgotten recordings, and residual noise. Beginning from conceptual inquiry rather than form, his process asks what survives transmission, what fades, and what remains felt but unseen. Parallel to his sound practice, Joshua creates abstract acrylic paintings and film photographs that echo the same sense of erosion and timelessness found in his music. Across mediums, his work seeks to evoke the feeling of receiving a message from beyond — something long forgotten yet faintly familiar.

Joshua currently works as a production manager at Arts & Crafts Productions Inc and has worked on titles for artists such as Broken Socials Scene, Gord Downie, Mustafa and Katie Tupper
